Antipsychotics-induced Metabolic Dysfunction Assays

Inquiry

Ace Therapeutics' team of scientists can design custom experiments to overcome the challenges in antipsychotic drug development while working together to ensure the timely delivery of data packages and detailed scientific reports that meet relevant regulatory requirements.

The Importance of Metabolic Dysfunction Analysis of Antipsychotic Drugs

Studies have shown that antipsychotics may induce or trigger metabolic disturbances, which are a major cardiovascular risk factor in patients with schizophrenia. In general, second-generation antipsychotics have a higher risk of metabolic disorders than first-generation antipsychotics. The binding affinity of antipsychotics for several neurotransmitter receptors may be related to the induction of metabolic disorders. Notably, there is growing evidence that genetic polymorphisms have a strong influence on antipsychotic drug-induced weight gain and metabolic disturbances, further highlighting the complexity and diversity of mechanisms. Despite the growing understanding of the biochemical characteristics of antipsychotic drugs, the potential mechanisms by which they are associated with metabolic disorders remain inconclusive.

Metabolic Dysfunction Assay Services

Ace Therapeutics has a comprehensive metabolite and lipid analysis platform that has tremendous potential as a companion diagnostic at several steps in the antipsychotic drug development process. We combine our technology with decades of expertise to provide you with compelling results. Our flexible custom metabolite analysis and structure resolution solutions are designed to meet your needs and can be offered as part of a broader work program or as stand-alone studies. Our panel includes biomarkers and enzymatic assays for more than 20 metabolic disorders. Biomarkers serve as measurable indicators of pathological processes. They are often directly associated with genetic variants in specific genes and can predict, diagnose, monitor, and assess the severity of disease.

Our Capabilities

  • Global Metabolite Analysis
  • Targeted Metabolomics
  • Lipidomics
  • High-throughput sequencing
  • Multi-omics

What Can We Help Achieve?

  • Investigating the molecular mechanisms by which antipsychotic drugs affect glucose homeostasis
  • Studying the molecular mechanism of antipsychotic-induced metabolic dysfunction
  • Investigating the molecular mechanisms of antipsychotic-induced weight gain
  • Analyzing the non-obesity-dependent effects of antipsychotics on glucose metabolism
  • Studying the molecular mechanisms of antipsychotic-induced hyperglycemia

Our Advantages

  • Our analytical services cover a wide range of lipids, including but not limited to storage lipids, membrane lipids, and signaling lipids.
  • Our lipid metabolomics analysis requires a very small sample volume per analysis, e.g. 1 µL plasma.
  • We can handle a wide variety of samples, from organelles, bacteria, yeast, and other microorganisms to animal cells, body fluids, blood and plasma, tissues and organs (liver, brain, etc.), oils, and more.
  • With our high-throughput technology platform that can handle thousands of samples, you get metabolomics analysis results in as little as 2 weeks.

Ace Therapeutics' analytical tools and accumulated depth of knowledge will enable the discovery, development, and testing of your anti-psychotic drugs to proceed with a deeper understanding of the effects of drugs on lipid metabolism. If you are interested in this service, please make an inquiry to learn how we can support you in your project.
