Protein-protein Interaction (PPI) Analysis in Psychiatry

Protein-protein Interaction (PPI) Analysis in Psychiatry

Inquiry

Ace Therapeutics focuses on all available biochemical methods and advanced biophysical techniques for identifying relevant protein molecules and dissecting the function of cellular protein-protein interactions (PPI) under well-defined conditions. We are committed to helping you understand the mechanisms of signal transduction, transmembrane transport, cellular metabolism, and biological processes related to protein interactions in psychopathology.

Introduction of Protein-protein Interaction (PPI) Analysis in Psychiatry

Cellular biomolecular complexes, including protein-protein, protein-RNA and protein-DNA interactions, regulate and perform most biological functions. In particular, in the brain, PPIs mediate or regulate almost all neuronal functions, such as neurotransmission, intercellular communication, neurogenesis, synaptogenesis and synaptic plasticity. It has been reported that some researchers have identified several previously unidentified disease marker genes and drug targets based on statistical and topological analysis of PPI networks, such as SBNO2 (schizophrenia), SEC24C (bipolar disorder) and SRRT (major depressive disorder). Thus, studying protein-protein interactions could bring new insights into the network biology of psychiatric disorders and help us understand the interrelationships between disease-associated genes and proteins.

What Can We Help You Achieve in Psychiatry with PPI Analysis?

  • Understand how genetic mutations lead to the rewiring of protein interaction networks that lead to the development of psychiatric disorders.
  • Identify proteomes in different cell types in the brain as well as proteomes and PPIs in difficult-to-separate structures such as synaptic gaps, axonal projections, or astrocyte-neuron connections
  • Study the molecular mechanisms of psychiatric disorders
  • Identify genes critical for effective antidepressant drug targeting
  • Study synaptic pathology related to cognition
