In Vitro Modeling of Hemorrhagic Stroke

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a type of stroke characterized by bleeding in the brain parenchyma. Ace Therapeutics offers customizable rodent whole blood injection and collagenase injection hemorrhagic stroke models to help you study the complex pathophysiology of ICH. In vivo models have high translational potential, but their long turnaround time and high cost make them unsuitable for high-throughput screening. In vitro models allow for ICH studies to be performed in a simplified culture system, making them particularly suitable for high-throughput screening and mechanistic studies. Current in vitro ICH models focus on secondary injuries associated with ICH, including hematoma expansion, neuronal cell death, oxidative stress, and blood-brain barrier disruption.

Custom In Vitro Hemorrhagic Stroke Models

As a leading company in the field of stroke research, Ace Therapeutics offers reliable hemorrhagic stroke in vitro models. Our lab has an extensive cell bank to support in vitro stroke research. We also provide in vitro phenotypic assays including analysis of different parameters associated with cellular damage.

We offer a variety of ICH in vitro modeling methods for our customers to choose.

Modeling Method Description Advantages
Hemoglobin Treatment We treat cells with hemoglobin to mimic the release of hemoglobin into brain tissue after a cerebral hemorrhage. When cells are treated with hemoglobin, they exhibit phenotypes or features associated with hemorrhagic stroke, such as a range of inflammatory responses and disruption of the blood-brain barrier.
  • Consistently and accurately reflects hematoma expansion
  • Easy to use and suitable for high-throughput screening
  • Allows study of iron levels/kinetics and hemoglobin protein hydrolysis
Hemin Treatment We use hemin to treat cells to simulate hemorrhagic stroke. Cell survival, metabolism and function are altered.
  • Reliable and easy to use
  • Able to mimic multiple aspects of injury secondary to cerebral hemorrhage, including blood-brain barrier disruption and neuroinflammation
Intracerebral Injection of Autologous Blood Treatment We simulate hemorrhagic stroke in vitro by exposing brain slices to autologous blood. Action potential amplitude and cell viability are affected.
  • Capable of replicating the full hemotoxicity of ICH
  • Relatively easy to use, requires only a small amount of blood
Hydrogen Peroxide Treatment We use hydrogen peroxide to treat cells to simulate oxidative stress in hemorrhagic stroke.
  • Relatively easy to use
  • Allows detailed study of specific pathways in ICH
Glutamate Treatment We treat cells with glutamate to mimic excitotoxic injury in hemorrhagic stroke.
  • Relatively easy to use
  • Allows detailed study of specific pathways in the ICH
  • Has a longer toxicity window

Ace Therapeutics's in vitro hemorrhagic stroke model is a very useful stroke research tool to help understand the underlying biochemical and cellular mechanisms. The in vitro system not only provides a low-cost basis for your stroke drug discovery but also complements in vivo assay studies to improve clinical translation. Need to know more?
